An original wedding entertainment for your guests: live portraits!
It’s the big trend right now: live guest portraits for your wedding!
Personally, I’ve been working in the wedding industry for ten years, offering live painting services, and this live guest portrait service. But you may have already seen pictures of this trend on social media!
I wanted to tell you a little more about this service and share this particular wedding experience in Fréjus, France.
Most of the time, my services are booked several months in advance (I once had a guest portrait session booked for a wedding a year and a half ahead of time!).
But this time, it was last minute! The couple had booked another artist, but two weeks before the wedding, he canceled… The groom called me, devastated; luckily, I was still available on that date!
The reception venue: La Bastide de l’Auberge des Adrets in Fréjus
My job allows me to discover new wedding reception venues year after year! Even near my home!The couple chose l’Auberge des Adrets in Fréjus, this charming 17th-century residence, located on a magnificent estate.
I absolutely fell in love with this stunning umbrella pine!
In fact, I spent the evening sketching under it! 🙂
But let’s get back to the bride and groom… and their guests!
The live guests portraits session
The guests attended the wedding ceremony in Fréjus. It was warm, and time for the cocktail hour! They gradually arrived in the beautiful space reserved for this time and discovered my live guest portrait session. Here are my first drawings:
As you can see, I draw my guests live, not from photos! It allows me to chat with them; they can sip a glass of champagne while I sketch them—it’s not a strict break!
But I don’t always remember to take a photo with the guests, so I still keep a memento once they’ve left:
Dinner time arrives, the guests go up to their seats, while I work on the bride and groom’s portraits. Yes, they deserve their wedding portraits too! But I took their photos just before they went up to dinner, letting them enjoy their guests throughout the cocktail hour. Here are my beautiful newlyweds:
