Live Painting for a wedding in Paris
I’ve never taken the time to tell you the story of this wedding. Greta and Ben, a charming American bride and groom, had decided to celebrate their wedding in Paris.
I call these kinds of contracts “last-minute weddings”! Greta, the bride-to-be, had contacted me a few months before her wedding for a live painting. But she signed her contract only a few weeks before the big day!
She found me through a post on Instagram (thanks, social media!). She was a florist living in Los Angeles, U.S.A.
The Wedding Reception Venue: The Shangri La in Paris
The bride and groom chose a luxurious palace in the heart of Paris: The Shangri La. I had never worked there before. I discovered a magnificent hotel, in the most beautiful city in the world (and the most romantic too!). I love my job as a live painter; it’s always a great pleasure for me to discover splendid reception venues all over France.

The wedding ceremony
I had already done a live painting during a Jewish wedding on the French Riviera a few years ago. But it was a large ceremony with many guests. I was far from the ceremony because I was painting a panoramic view. So I didn’t get to see the Jewish rituals of the wedding ceremony in detail.

Greta and Ben’s wedding was a very small celebration. There were twenty-nine of them, including the bride and groom! So I was able to enjoy each of the rituals (including the presence of the chuppah, the sharing of the cup of wine, the groom breaking a glass, the bride’s circle around her husband, the signing of the Ketubah, etc.).
I think it’s important to point out that the master of ceremonies was none other than Ben’s grandfather… and he was 100 years old! And for the record, the day of this wedding was also his own wedding anniversary with his late wife.
Live Painting during the wedding evening
Once the ceremony was over, I finished my drawing and moved out of the living room.

It’s a privilege to work in such a palace!
I then began applying the colors, and the bride took a picture of me while I painted.

The evening progressed, the guests dined, drank, sang, danced… and I continued painting! People visit me throughout the evening to see the progress of the painting. It’s always a pleasure to interact with the guests and share my passion for painting with them.
I finish my performance after 10 hours on site. I’m exhausted!
The painting isn’t finished, but I take it back to my studio to finish it.
And here’s the final result:

Would you also like to have a painter at your wedding?!
